Hey all,
I'm running a hp pavilion d4790y, with vista 32bit. I startup the computer and there are groups of 4 vertical lines all across the screen, and the computer wont boot past the windows loading bar. The computer was doing this before and had a hard drive laying around i was dying to use. I installed the new hdd and did a complete clean install of vista 32bit, and updated the drivers. The lines stopped and the computer worked perfectly for about 2 weeks and same problem happened again. My only thought at this point is the video card is bad. I put this card in my other pc and the other pc failed to boot at all (no lines). Any wisdom on this matter would be greatly appreciated, and i thank you all in advance.

(these are correct specs besides I'm running 2 gb of ram instead of 1gb)
Thanks,
Zman

Zman,
What video card are you using? Have you tried swapping monitors?
Depending on the card, your other PC might not have a strong enough PSU to power up the card.

big dave,
I am having the same problem that was posted by the Zman. Looking over the brief discussion it does not seem that the problem was resolved. I did connect my computer to different monitor and the issue persists. I have performed a destructive recovery and no luck. how can this be fixed?
