I have a similar problem. Upgrading a single 1 gig 4200 DDR2 533 MHz to a 2 gig DDR2 800 Mhz i get a blue screen or no boot. Not sure if i had to up the voltage but i dont think the bios has that option. I may have to take the ram back and get a 667 MHz module instead.

Hi there...I am here to join the club for this issue...yup it is 2013 and I am still using the a6500f with vista. Since last week the computer started to act up. So I ran the diagnositc test, and it found out that one of the memories was faulty. So I bought one only to repleace the one that it was faulty which was from the factory. 2GB PC2-6400U. It is a cheap brand, not the samsung that it came with the machine. When I install it the thing freezes up and it will not boot. Right now I am on one 2 gb ram, the other one that came from the factory, and I am typing in the computer under safe mode. Because if I start windows normally, the computer will just freeze randomly. So I think the second ram it is going to fail pretty soon. I was going to change the RAM for another brand, but after this threath I dont know what to do.
I am somehow dissatisfied with hp products, I have a laptop is there no working, taking space, it is just 1 year old. Have to soldier the gpu and stuff to make it work again, but it is not a sure fix.
To tell you the truth, I will not buy hp products again.
