CPU utilization pegs out

I have an HP Pavilion M9517c desktop computer quad core, 8 gb ram, 2.20ghz, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. When I plugin the MagicJack, within 30 minutes the cpu peaks to 80-85% usage and the MJ becomes unrecognized. I can reboot (taskmanager says only 3% used, google cpu meter says 80-85% used) and after the reboot the cpu useage goes back to 3% for awhile. Originally the system had Vista home premiium, did something similar but it totally lost all usb devices except the mouse and keyboard.. When it does lose the MagicJack it shows up in "Computer"  as an unrecognizeable cdrom drive. Anyone have any ideas?

Windows 7 doesn't mount volumes until the ODD is populated with Media. Insert a piece of media and see if it still gives you the same error message.

i have the same problem with the same exact computer, only i dont have majic jack. my cpu usgae goes to about 90% or higher and stays there unless i hard shutdown. i also had vista 64 home premium and upgraded to windows 7. i have tried to factory restore and then use 7 and i have used 7 with no addons. it seems to be a hardware problem but so far i have had no luck fixing it. it is very frustrating because it is at random and i cant finish what im doing i just have to satrt over. any help will be appriciated or i will take it back and get a dell computer or somthing.
