My computer is frozen when I try to get into document(s) from the desktop. i.e. when I click on START the program screen come up; however, when I click the mouse on any of the programs I get an error sound and I cannot get anything. I am able to get into Internet Explorer and get my email. What is wrong?

Hi,
Did you check if the same thing happens in Safe mode too?
If not try to log into Safe Mode or Safe mode with Networking and check. You can boot to Safe
Mode or Safe Mode with Networking by tapping F8 as soon as you turn the notebook ON.Let me
know what happens. Also please provide your system model and windows version (XP,Vista,Win7).
If same thing happens in Safe Mode also then run the Hard drive diagnostics and check if it passes...
Here are the link with the steps to perform System Diagnostics on the hard drive:

Thanks. You have been very helpful. I tried the Safe Mode when I turned on my computer and it worked. Thanks again.
