Re: Elite e9150t Feezes/Locks up

Add me to the freeze/BSOD list.  I ordered my e9180t on 8-10-09 directly from HP.  Got it on the 18th.  Started to act up initially with sound issues and continued with various freezes and Boob's.  Initially thought it was just conflict issues is Vista 64 bit that would get fixed with updates.  Then I found this thread and read most of it.  I have the 1.04 MOBO with 5.18 BIOS.  I installed a bunch of driver updates etc.. and thought I was good since I hadn't crashed in a few days.  Today after 5hrs on from a cold boot I ran iTunes and Google Earth at the same time, got the sound stutter and freeze.  I left for a few hrs and came back and did another cold start, ran iTunes and Google Earth again soon after start and a couple minutes into it did the same stutter and freeze.  I then tried the warm restart and reran the iTunes/Google test and it worked OK.  I will continue testing but its nice to know the restart helps until we get a real fix.  I have used HP products for years at work and never had these issues.  I haven't called for service yet but I will now to get me on the list of bad computers.  I hope they can get a good fix going before I send it in.  To me the restart fix seems to either point to a software issue or a very transient hardware issue.

eots, where exactly did you get the information about Pegatron admitting there is a defect in their motherboard? I'd just like to have some hard evidence when I talk to my case manager.

Pegatron sent me several emails regarding this issue and they are the ones who said it's a resistor problem.  What really pisses me off is that they will NOT tell HP they have found a problem until HP contacts them with a massive number of failures!!!!!  Pegatron is obviously just as corrupt as HP!  Pegatron isn't going to approach HP because HP will likely hold them responsible for the cost of a recall.  HP isn't going to admit there are a huge number of customers with the same problem because that would hurt their sales and they want to continue selling crap rather than deal with this problem.  Clearly HP learned nothing from the notebook fiasco where the GPU's were catching fire and they still refused to acknowledge it as a massing manufacturing flaw. <text deleted>

Re: Elite e9150t Feezes/Locks up

I emailed Carey Holzman and he forwarded my email to an attorney that he has worked with:

"I have worked with Carey on several matters and have filed numerous cases (class actions) involving defective computers including several against HP. I would like to discuss with you your experiences with your Elite computer. Please email or call me at your convenience. If I'm not in, please call my cell. I look forward to hearing from you."

Re: Elite e9150t Feezes/Locks up

Hey Everyone...

Add me to the list of frustrated HP owners!

Got a e9150t , i7-920, 6gb ddr3, 512mb radeon on September 8'th -   Froze on the HP splash screen on cold start-up!   Spoke to about 10 service reps over the past 4 days.  They have had me change everyhting from setting to "discharging" the unit.   Also I had one guy who told me to take the CMOS battery out.

All of this and it seemed to temporaily fix the issue but then I got a BSOD when I went to switch users!

I still have about 10 days to send this POS back for a refund...

What the opion out there?-  The tech support said not to worry that they can fix it but I am worried!

Thanks!

Re: Elite e9150t Feezes/Locks up

Send it back and tell them why.

That "we can solve your problem" is not a promise - it's just crap that they are told to say.

Re: Elite e9150t Feezes/Locks up

I am so pissed-  Its my first "new" pc in 8yrs and I decided to go HP over Dell (my last) - Go ahead call me a fool!

When I told tech about this forum and about the many people listing the same issue- it was if I was speaking another language!  (kind of sarcastic- dont ya think- lol)

Well since I have the opportunity I think this thing is going back for a refund and I will look at the Dell xps9000-

I also called the attorney generals office in NY and they were as interested in this as  HP!

Re: Elite e9150t Feezes/Locks up

Yes, I will definitely be going with Dell in the future. HP has terrible customer service. You've got about a 1% chance of talking to someone that you can understand.
