Don"t feel too bad, my HP homeserver just had a primary hard drive crash. So now I have to get that fixed before I can do the backup/restore routine when or if my desktop replacement arrives!
ARRRGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is definitely my last factory purchase. Custom building everything from now on!!

Can anyone tell me if this problem is mostly limited to HP's Core i7 systems?
In other words, would their 9000-series PC's with other Intel or AMD processors likely be OK, or should I opt for 6000-series?
I'm still shopping, and thankful I checked the blogs! Good luck to all who are suffering through this mess.

Yes, this wide spread problem only affects HP systems with the Pegatron IPMTB-TK motheboard used by all of the Core i7 models.

I'm one of the few who has received a good replacement e9150t. With my lemon I ordered recovery disks from HP and it still didn't fix it. If your still within the 21 days my advise is to get a refund. If not you might have to jump thru hoops in order to get a replacement. I was lucky, I was still in the 21 day window and demanded a refund. They then talked me into a replacement. I paid $2500 for mine (and that's without a monitor) so feel dammed lucky I got a good one. After paying that much it better be good.
PS, I'm looking forward to getting Win 7. Is it as good as advertised?

I am well past that 21 day mark. It has been nearly two months for me. Even if I exchange it, I risk the chance of getting an even more defective unit. My 9180t freezes every 2-3 days and has only had the BSOD 3-4 times or so. I guess that is really good considering many people have their machines lock up after just a few hours of use.
