Re: Elite e9150t Freezes/Locks up

[ Edited ]

11 hours after my cold start this morning and my system still hasn't frozen with the 5.22 BIOS.  If it continues to work like this for the next week I'll be satisfied.

For those of you who are still freezing with the 5.22 BIOS can you report if you're using the default RAID setting or AHCI.  I've been using AHCI for several weeks and there have been no BSOD's.

I have a sneaking suspicion the e9200 series of Elite will have the same Pegatron motherboard and this is what's causing the delay announcing the specs on the new models.

Hpsad -

What's your memory config ?  so you have 1 drive in your system? Sorry if you've posted this before this forum is getting too big.

Re: Elite e9150t Freezes/Locks up

I have RAID 1 set because I'm paranoid about disks going bad due to a number of painful episodes.

FWIW, I saw a sneak preview of a Big Box store circular that will run in this Sunday's paper advertising some Windows 7 machines.  Looks like they will have an HP p6230y (AMD Phenom II X4 810) and a Dell SX8000 (Intel Core i7-860) in the ad.  No HP i7 machine in the ad.  Not sure anything can be concluded from that, but I thought it interesting.

Re: Elite e9150t Freezes/Locks up

Just spoke with my case manager Rose. She acknowledged that Customer Support received a memo a few days ago about the constant freezing. She tried to convince me to return it. I am still in my return period from this one since I never did an exchange on my bad systems. I did a return rebuy.  I asked her if that is what she was told to do with these systems and she said yes. She connected me to the HP sales department to do the return and I was told by the sales person that the e9180 is going to be discontinued on the 18th and a new model , the e9280 , is going to be released. She did not have the specs on the system so I have no way of knowing if it has the same garbage MB.

I have the e9180f, the standard config on these is 9GB of RAM configured with 3x2GB and 3x1GB (reported as tripple channel in CPUZ) and a single 1TB Seagate hard drive.  There were issues with the RAID driver so I switched to AHCI.  Anyone who has 1 hard drive in their system and is having BSOD errors should try the AHCI setting and see if it resolves that issue, it did for me.

Re: Elite e9150t Feezes/Locks up

Well, obviously they see that they are better off to scrap the model if they are doing away with it. But that leaves the question, what about those of us with the defective PCs? They need to upgrade us to the e9280 model and cut their losses. As long as it doesn't have the same crappy board in it, of course.

How do you switch modes?  Also, is this machine hardware RAID or software RAID?  I was reading in another forum that there are two kinds, and when I looked in CPUZ i could not find if my system was RAID or not.  I checked specs on HP website, and could not find anything mentioning this.  Let me know...

The hard drive controller modes are in the BIOS settings, press F10 at the HP screen during boot up.  CPUZ doesn't show the drive controller setting, it reports on your CPU, motherboard model, graphics card and system memory.

Re: Elite e9150t Freezes/Locks up

UPDATE:::

I thought I finally got my PC to freeze after having the PC on all day today, and having it go on standby every 5 hours.  As I was just surfing the internet (MYSPACE) my PC suddenly appeared to be frozen, my MOUSE & KEYBOARD did no longer worked.  But what I found interesting was that my clock (lower right hand corner) suddenly changed from 6:36pm to 3:46pm.  I watched the clock, thinking that it would not move onto 3:47pm... but it did.

I have my MOUSE & KEYBOARD (all microsoft products) connected to an external USB hub (purchased from WALMART -- don't laugh).  I dug out my OEM HP MOUSE and plugged it into the front USB 2.0 port.  I was relieved to see that PC recognized the MOUSE, and I was able to move it around and click on things.  I bypassed my USB HUB and connected my KEYBOARD to the SAME USB port where the HUB was connected to, and my KEYBOARD came back to life.

SO what appeared to be a freeze, wasn't.  But how come my clock went back 3 hours and my HUB stopped responding?  IDK.  Just thought I'd share my experience to see if anyone noticed this.

So far i am still freeze free, but surely not problem free!!!  As stated before, after the 5.22 BIOS update, I could no longer use my WIRELESS KEYBOARD to access SAFE MODE, DIAGNOSTICS, etc when booting up.  However, my keyboard was connected to the HUB.  I will reboot, and see if I can now access SAFE MODE, DIAGNOSTICS, with my accessories plugged directly into the USB PORT.  I will report back.

However, this still does not explain why my clock went back 3 hours... hmmm.... or why my DESKTOP resolution reset to LOW resolution during a reboot (using 5.22 BIOS).  It's almost as if the PC suddenly defaulted to OEM specs on it's own.  DESKTOP picture is still intact though, which is not a OEM desktop picture.

Strange.
