So you started the machine this morning I assume. How long after you started did you leave? I'm trying to get a run before crash time for when mine is installed next week.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ----------- My update...
I got my machine back last week, and finally had a chance to start it up late Saturday. The new motherboard is the Pegatron v 1.4 with the 5.22 bios. No freezes (yet), but yesterday I suffered through 2 BSODs. One BSOD appeared simply by logging off as a user. HP must have done some type of restore to my HD as I had a zillion MS updates to re-download (although my data was still there).
The first reason I even called HP support, weeks ago (and was the reason a tech guy came out to visit) was due to a failed "1394 Bus Reset Test". Guess what? I still have the "1394 Bus Reset" test error, plus the fun of BSODs.
I called home a few hours ago and asked if the computer had crashed today yet...and no it had not! Then we realized we were using the old HP tower I had re-hooked up.
I will call HP support again...I'm not looking forward to this. I've had 4 other HP machines (2 laptops and 2 towers) and this is the first time I've had any issues. I'm glad I still have the "old reliable" HP machine from several years ago or my family would have hoisted me with my own petard outside of the HP offices off of Hansen Street in Palo Alto long ago.
--------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------- -----------
Update:
After a solid hour on the phone and finally getting to level II support we seemed to have found what was causing the BSOD. In the device manager under display adapters there were two listed. The ATI Radeon adapter and a generic HP adaptor. I uninstalled the HP adapter and the BSOD went away. After 36 hours no new BSOD.
The machine (e9150t) did freeze up once (MOBO= Pegatron 1.4 w/BIOS 5.22), but has behaved itself over the last 24 hours.
My computer is still going back for repairs to fix the original problem: some issue with a 1394 Bus Reset test failure. The failure code is: MB512-F1. If that means anything to anyone, please let me know.

hi all,
I'm new at the forum and on this thread but I'm on same boat as everyone else. Purchased my e9180f in July and since than I had numerous BSOD and freezes on a daily basis. Its extremley frustrating.
I hoped that flashing of bios and updating to 5.22 will do the trick but it didn't. I still experience BSODs.
Thinking about problem and seeing that even people with replaced mobo still have problems and that it can't be that we all have bad memory modules I wonder if problem is caused by power supply? PSU with the system is only 460W and probably is not most stable one to begin with but rather cheapest one HP was able to get in bulk. It just strikes me that 460W sounds really weak for support of nvidia 250 series video card, 9GB of memory and I7 CPU. it would make sense that system freezes under load when one of the components doesn't get enough power.
With that in mind I just wanted to check if anyone upgraded PSU and if you still face BSOD?

I made it come out of sleep mode this morning. Then left to go to work, and came home 5 hours later. It was frozen of course. I have found that if it comes out of sleep mode, it doesn't take too long after that to get a freeze or BSOD.

I don't know what im more angry about. The piece of crap on my computer desk or their customer service.

Here was the final straw for me .... I hope you are reading HP.... Here in California, you are doing a MASSIVE TV ad campaign. I am guessing it is costing you millions. Well, you have hundreds? Thousands? of US, bad mouthing you to anyone who will listen because you sold us bad MBs, DENY the problem, refuse to help, and force us into legal action to merely get what we paid for on machines straight out of the box. I mean we are not talking machines that went bad in 6-12 months - IMMEDIATELY. My friends and colleagues are horrified, and they will never look at an HP product again because of my experience. I am one of the "silent majority" you have not heard from until today - I have just silently read the hopeless fight the others were leading for me. At the VERY LEAST I am sure each of us knows 3 people who will never touch HP again either. NOT because you had a problem. No, that can and does happen to everyone. It is because of how you handled it. All the lies, all the denials. I called on DAY ONE!!! 10 minutes out of the box and your tech guy said he had no record of such a problem ever being reported with this computer (because I wanted to know if it was a fluke, or if I needed to take it back to Frys immediately). Honesty would have kept a customer because I was in love with this computer .... now I am sicken to hear your name. So you are spending millions to get NEW customers instead of spending thousands to keep the customers you HAD!!! Where is the logic?? Then to add insult to injury, I was sent an email from Costco yesterday .... they announced that they would be carrying your e9280 ..... hmmm. I bought your e9180f. Too close. I realize you are HOPING this will be the replacement that will work, but you don't know, and you are so untrustworthy I know you won't do anything but deny if that turns out to be a lemon too. Oh yes, I will definitely be sending out letters to Costco about these computers you plan on stocking at the end of November. I use to respect you HP, but your logic & integrity is completely lacking. The ironic part ---- this wasn't even your fault to begin with!!!! You could have been the good guy in this whole thing by promptly doing the right thing. You will be forced to do the right thing in the end - I think even you know that now. But its too late, too much damage has been done. I myself have spent HOURS-WEEKS day after day of straight troubleshooting trying to figure out what I did. Then just when I think I fixed "what I did" a day later it would happen again. You owe me so much of my valuable time.... so many sleepless nights because all along you kept telling me it was my fault, nothing was wrong with the computer. I purchased repair programs unnecessarily. In addition, I purchased an online $200 photoshop class that I was unable to attend because my computer is too unstable to participate. So much aggravation .... and there really was no need to. All you had to do was be honest. Admit there was a problem instead of lie to me, tell me you were working on the problem, and then replace the motherboards when you realized that was the only option. Your people are STILL lying today saying there is no problem with the e9180f. You disgust me. Keep it up with the commercials HP. EVERY SINGLE TIME I see one (about 3 times a day) I tell my story, and those of my "peers" to everyone around me. It was really great the other day when I was in a Restaurant for lunch and the bar had the TV going.
You know what they say.... there is no advertising like work of mouth. I may be out $1500 for a while. What is your dishonesty ultimately going to cost you?

After i get my check cut, I will build my own PC -- as i usually do with the help of my computer geek uncle. I want to build something similar to this models spec but with an actual motherboard that WORKS!!! (even if it costs more, it's well worth not having this headache). I will keep everyone posted until i see my check -- as I still don't trust them with the buy-back either (although they said it would take 5-7 biz days to see my money) -- we'll see, i am sending unit back next week.
For anyone else lucky enough to get a refund, and who wants to build their own system, check out these two threads:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/272401-31-video-
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/273360-31-build-
The first one is Ferdball's, and his machine has been up and running for a while now. The second is mine, and I just ordered all the parts today. I'll update my thread once I get the machine together and working.
I didn't save any money vs. HP or Dell, but I did get a much better system. Before ordering the parts, I tried configuring a Dell XPS 9000 to the same specs as what I'm building, and it ended up way more expensive. It looks like you can get a cheaper system from Dell or HP than what you can build yourself, but they both kill you on the upgrades. For example, HP wants $100 to upgrade from a 640 GB drive to a 1 TB drive. You can buy a brand-new Samsung 1 TB drive from Newegg for $80! To upgrade from a regular CD/DVD burner to one that can play back Blu-Ray discs, HP wants an extra $120. I just bought a drive like that from Newegg for $100. Those are just two examples of many where the cost to upgrade from component A to B costs as much or more than buying a brand-new component B outright.
