Re: HP 3TB USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Drive

Hi,

I have not heard anything other than what is posted in this forum message.  I wasted a lot of time logging a support request and communicating with an HP tech, via their chat option, before resorting to this forum.

The HP support technician basically told me it was my boot sequence in the bios settings even though I had already ruled that out by changing it several times.

If you are successful with finding a solution other than unplugging the device whenever re-booting, please let me know.

Thanks.

Re: HP 3TB USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Drive

I have the same problem on an h8-1214. No help from HP customer support. I have a WD 3TB USB 3.0 drive. Very frustrating to keep hearing "fix the bios" when that isn't the issue. Been doing the "workaround" for 4 months now. Not happy with it.

Re: HP 3TB USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Drive

I remember once upon a time there was a problem with [other brand] systems hanging on boot if there was a printer with a card reader attached. Apparently the BIOS tried to enumerate the bootable drives and the printer screwed it up.

The solution was to remove the printer/card reader from the list of bootable devices. I don't know if your BIOS has such a setting.

Re: HP 3TB USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Drive

Any updates on this issue?  I too have the same problem: have disabled EVERY USB-anything from the BIOS, and my h8-1214 hangs before hitting the POST.  The 'workaround' (of not plugging in the drive until after boot) is not welcome - this is a backup drive, and reboots are common throughout the week.
