HP Invent Boot Up Screen frozen, tried almost everything.

I am uncertain when this happened but yesterday my HP did the same. I unplugged everything and replugged it back in. The keyboard basically did not work expect for the arrow. I managed to move the cursa till i got to safe mode and system restore to previous day.

Hope this helps... I just fixed my sisters desktop the keyboard was not responding and it was stuck on blue screen. I went ahead and unplugged keyboard with pc on, I realized that keyboard lights on for a fast second right when plugged back in so I took that second to press f11 for dianostic, ran it and everything passed now rebooted and I am on login screen keyboard is on and responding what I will do now is reeboot again and do a recovery we'll see.

When comp freezes at the HP logo screen
>it might be a Hard Disc Drive issue OR a mother board issue
>it is not a software issue
>we would have to open the tower & disconnect the cables going to the Hard disc & leave every thing like that & try to turn the comp on & keep hitting F10 key on the keyboard if it loads to bios then check whats listed under drives. If you see the dvd drive listed
>try to connect the Hard drive cables back & go to F10 screen if the Hard disc drives are shown restart the comp it should be fine-- if that doesnt work
>turn the comp off & swap the cables going to the hard disc drive with the DVD drive cables & try to go to the F10 screen check whether the drive is listed

case 1: if only the dvd drive is being listed after swapping the cables it is the Hard drive that has gone bad replacing it would work
case 2: if no drives are shown it might be the SATA ports on the mother board
case 3: if the comp doesnt go to the F10 Screen at all try disconnect the cables going to the dvd & HDD if the comp doesnt go to F10 screen even after that then good idea to try a different keyboard IF it doesnt work even then then its the Motherboard

I just got mine back from a pc technician, and he diagnosed it with a corrupt motherboard. The hard drive was ok. He did not recommend me to install a new motherboard due to the overall installation and service expences here in cheap Norway. So that was that, not even 3 years old, and cheerio

I'll be trying to get this one on the extended guarantee with hp !!!!

I see I am not the only one. Mine is doing the same thing, stuck at the blue invent screen. I have pulled the card reader, unplugged, cleaned, done everything to get it to come up with no luck.....

Hi, 

I had this problem fixing a friend's old desktop. I was able to fix it after reading through the forums by disconnecting literally all cables from the Motherboard except for the ones necessary to power it and the CPU fan as well as the cable to turn use the power switch to turn it on. I also removed all of the RAM (I suspect the RAM was the problem) and all the peripherals and PCI cards. 

I then plugged it back in, and it started automatically, first with no result. Then I turned the computer off by holding the power button for 10 secs, and changed the jumper settings to reset the CMOS as listed here:

I reset both jumpers, one at a time, leaving the power connected the whole time and turning the computer on for 20 seconsds with the jumper in the reset position before replacing the jumper to the original position.

Finally, I turned the computer on (still with no RAM and only the necessary power cables plugged in (no peripherals, no PCI cards etc), first with no result. Then I turned it off and tried again, this time, however, I got intermitent long beeps, indicating RAM failure (Since there was no Ram). I replaced the RAM, and the computer finally booted into POST. 

I am now able to access BIOS settings by pressing F1 with a PS2 Keyboard plugged in. Everything seems to be working fine.

OK everyone  I know this an old postings but the prob just happened to my Dad.... and the ANSWER IS : the  hard drive IS cooked  ... on most all mother boards there is an IDE port (blue) on the mother board so ... one can use an older model from an old com and load your recovery discs to  "TEST" & double check b4 investing any $. 

Note: make sure to select "restore to factory settings" and MOST IMPORTANTLY~~ NEVER UNPLUG OR PLUG ANYTHING , ANYWHERE, ANYTIME  WHILE THE COMPUTER IS ON!!!  MOTHER BOARDS ARE UNPREDICTABLE WHEN DOING SO

1) WHILE COMUTER IS STILL ON AND STUCK ON HP INVENT SCREEN  >PUT IN RECOVERY DISC 1.

2) TURN OFF COMPUTER

3) OPEN THE TOWER AND UNPLUG THE SATA CONNECTOR AND POWER CONNECTOR FROM THE SEAGATE HARD DRIVE (PIECE OF CRAP)

4) NOW PLUG IN THE "TEST" HARD DRIVE AND TURN THE COMPUTER ON

5) IF THE SCREEN READS "LOADING FILES................."   > YOUR GOOD TO GO!

6) GO TO THE STORE AND BUY A HARD DRIVE NEW AND REPEAT STEPS 2~4 ONLY USING YOUR "NEW HD"

I can not believe it.... I have the same issue (stuck at splash screen)

Fix:

I pulled all of the connectors on the motherboard (except the ones needed to power up the pc), including everything on the back (nothing usb). I left the monitor cable and the power cord. Sure enough it went past POST and OS booted up.

I have not tested plugging everything back yet.

My HP Pavillion A6400f PC has been having problems for the past 5 months. It runs on Windows Vista Home Premium. (64 Bit [I think])
Lately, when it starts up, it stays on the blue HP Invent logo screen with command options. It will not allow me to select any if the options as if my keyboard was disabled.

I googled this problem and tried many things. I tried changing the BIOS settings, unplugging and reconnecting all cords from motherboard, reconnecting the card reader, and hard drive with no avail.

When I disconnect the hard drive from the connections, my computer first prompts the blue logo screen followed by a black screen that states "Reboot and Select proper boot device or insert boot media in select boot device press a key to continue", or it also allows me to run diagnostic tests.

(When hard drive disconnected..) My computer passes the memory diagnostic tests but when it reaches the hard drive component it states error code: BIOHD-2


I cannot seem to figure out what is wrong with my computer! If I connect the hard drive to the connection, my computer does not move from the blue screen.
If I disconnect the hard drive, my computer allows me to do what is stated, but nothing else?

I've tried changing the BIOS settings to default and also changing it to where my 1st boot device is the hard drive, but then again I have no business in this!

My computer is out if warranty as we bought it back in 2007/2008

I really do not know what else to do. I highly doubt it's dust, as the fans work properly and no sound is emitted from them.. According to the Internet & various bloggers, it is either a failed hard disk connection or incorrect motherboard configurations.. I've never touched the interior of my computer prior to this problem, so I have no idea why or how it happened. Please help!!
