My HP Pavilion a6000 (KX620AA-ABT) fails to start up. The computer freezes on the blue start-up screen. Apparently this is before POST -- I do not get any beep code. This occurs even when just a screen is connected (no keyboard, and I do not get a "keyboard missing" message, as I am stuck before the beeps.
When the keyboard is connected, the NumLock LED comes on, but pressing the key does not toggle that LED; Caps Lock and ScrL Lk do not toggle their LEDs, wither.
Motherboard is free of dust, fans (CPU, graphics card, box) are spinning freely, and nothing is hot. I have pressed in all memory DIMMs and disk connectors, no change.
Thanks for any advice or help!

Try these articles and see if you can isolate the issue.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately I have already been there, specifically the Computer Does Not Start (Windows Vista) page. I do not appear to have a power supply issue -- the computer does start. I do not receive beeps from POST -- the computer is silently halted on the blue startup screen.
None of the links help for me, unfortunately.

Look thru this procedure. Trouble Shooting Power Supply Issues. Did you follow all the steps? If you get into the bios by removing a component (memory, disk, dvd/cd etc..) then you might be able to isolate the issue.
Disconnect everything but the mouse, keyboard and monitor when troubleshooting the problem.
It's most likely the motherboard or PSU if you can't get into the bios (setup) at the HP blue screen. It might be time for the local PC repair shop to look at your PC.
