Hey everyone,
One day I am browsing on the internet on a forum, when suddenly I get a blank screen and an error message saying something about my memory and that I need to restart my computer (unfortunately I don't really remember exactly what the error message said). So I decided to just shut down the computer manually. When I turned it on though, it would load up to the first screen (where it says HP and gives the options like F11 = system restore etc.) and then freeze and won't even load any further, not even to the desktop!!! So I tried to do a system restore by pressing F11 but it wouldn't even respond. I unplugged my PC for a minutes as well then plugged it back in and still have the same problem. So how would I be able to fix this? The computer isn't that old either, its like 5-6 months old and its running on vista. I really would like this PC fixed since I do produce music on this computer. If you have any suggestions on how to fix this problem that would be great. If you need more detail, just ask. I'm also on a labtop by the way, thats how I am asking this. Thanks guys!

The first step is to reseat your memory modules. Remove power from your PC first! ![]()
That means removing them one at a time and putting them back in the same DIMM slots.
to remove the modules press down on the plastic retaining latches on each end of a memory module to unlock it. With thumb and forefinger holding both ends of a module gently rock it upwards to remove it.
to replace the modules, take note of the index slot on the memory module and match it up with the index in the DIMM slot. Use the same basic procedure as removing the modules. This time gently rock the module downwards until you feel and hear a click. The sound means the module is in place and the latches should clip back into the latched position on the module detents.
Once you have done the reseating you can close the PC and plug in power and try a startup.
please post your results here. If no succes then we move on to step two. Step two is clearing CMOS.
regards,
erico
