HP dv6402 laptop won't start

So a few months ago I updated Windows on my laptop and ever since I have been having this problem.  Every once in awhile, when the computer shuts down/is restarted it won't start.  The lights come on, you can here fans going etc, but then it shuts down.  It is almost like its warming up.  This can last a few minutes or a couple of days.  What could the problem be?

You might be suffering from a fautly MotherBoard, please check the site for the list on HP laptops that needed to have some repairs or replacement done on there laptop. If you find that you were covered but you no longer under the enhanced warranty then I suggest you dispute the repair with a case manager, if you check my profile and veiw all my postings you can tell that I have been doing some research on these repairs and "Enhanced Warranty". HP will try to get you to pay for the repair but if you find yourself with the symptoms that HP claims these NON faulty MOTHERBOARDS are having then I say you do some searches on your laptop to find sources out there and not just use HP as your reliable source. There is many stories with people in your shoes, please read some of my blogs on here, thanks and good luck. But for sure check to see if you are one of the victims taken by this warranty thing.

When you power it back on, does the screen come on and display anything?

The screen is blank, but the laptop turns on and off over and over this time around and it started in June, I can't look at anything on it, not even in safe mode. I looked it up and they said it's a motherboard issue, that's what the agent told me and that's how I knew and the motherboard.

check under those numbers, it's a dv6258se I think, it's white. It says "special edition".

Nothing displays at all on the screen, no Windows logo, no error message absolutely nothing.

Nope its a dv6402, black with some swirly designs like most of the other HPs.
