HP media center M7470N Error Codes

I've got an HP media Center M7470 which has been an awesome computer for a couple of years, running MS windows XP. But now Windows XP won't boot. It will hang at the window boot screen and ask of for safe mode or "last know good settings" but either way it says it can't find C://windows/config

when I run the system check it gives an error code HD521-21 on the Hard drive and error code 18 for cache, with the warning not to run the recovery console.  Anyone know what those error codes mean and what the fix is??  I suspect has a problem because it sounds different as it runs then before.

I just spoke to HP support on the phone and they stated the error codes (HD 521-2W) means the computer can't find the windows .sys files.

The man on phone support stated that also means I cannot use the recover program ON the internal HD for it still will not be able to read the files. He said the best fix was to purchase the Windows Media Center XP recovery DVD and recover from that to get a clean install. He stated this will have all the drivers and software replacements for that HP model (7400) media center.

The recover DVD was only $16.00 and will be here in about a week.  We'll see if it works.
