Fascinating! I am going through the exact 'HANG-UP' ; w/o being able to use my keyboard! And guess what machine is? A HP (Media Center) Pavilion a1547c! The a1547c and the Compaq Presario SR 1950NX are basically the same Computer; just with different 'handles'. They both share the Nagami2-GL8E (Asus A8N-LA motherboard! The same HP/Compaq motherboard part number! Mine is HP P/N: 5187-5067. The HP Partsurfer http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?Search (Text=CNH6261W12). The "Text=CNH6261W12" is the serial number of my Pavilion a1547c. I have been stumpted over this problem for at least 2 weeks; I have an appointment tomorrow Morning @ 10:00AM with a specialist from www.restoredisks.com (whom I purchased the Recovery Disks from). I've performed a "Full" Recovery on my HP Media Center PC m7250n at least a dozen times w/o ANY problems! I just installed a new WD 2500 AAKX with a 16MB Cache and 6 GB/Sec without any problems! And I've changed Processors from the original D820 (2.8GHz) to a D840 (3.4GHz) and also have added 2 extra 1 GB RAM Sticks that remain on the computer and I didn't have to return it to "Original State" Hardware. Now that Pavilion a1547c IS in Factory Original State except for the New WD Hard Drive I installed (WD 2500 AAKS) 16MB Cache and 3 GB/Sec. An improvement to the original. I'm Convinced the problem is with that Motherboard! We both have the "same computer" and have exactly the same problem! How can you do anything in Setup (F1) when your keyboard is not recognized? I can't even change the date/time! The keyboard WORKS enough to put me in Boot Sequence pressing the Esc key and delivers me to Setup upon Boot pressing F1: I just can't do anything once I'm there!!!
