I am running Windows Vista 32 on HP Pavillion m8400f. When I try to do a download, Windows installer gives me an error. I am confused and very upset. This has been going on for months now.
I went to Microsoft and followed their instructions to no avail.
Can you help me?

Follow these instructions at the Microsoft Answers website.
If you already have service pack 3 installed, you really should consider turning off updates to Windows Vista. If it (Vista) isn't broken, don't fix it.
. You will be pleased at the results.

Sirs;
I have done all the instructions from Microsoft and then re-did them for your benifit, to no avail. I am still experiencing the same defect.

The suggestions I make are certainly not for my own benefit. You say you have tried everything in the thread.. If that is so, then why is it that you have not asked about a clean boot installation or how to recover your PC to a state prior to your issue?
I highly recommend that you read the thread at Microsoft Answers again.That particular thread at Microsoft Answer is a gold mine of answers to any queries on your particular issue.
I am not an HP employee. I am a volunteer here and enjoy helping those who are not able to help themselves or need a slight nudge in the right direction. This forum is meant to help people help themselves.

Your response is unnecessarily hostile, the user has a right to be upset here however he is calm and you are behaving improperly. Your passive aggressiveness is obvious and your 'assistance' was unhelpful.

If you are able to help the user please do so. We do have moderators here in the forum. I seriously doubt that we are in need of self appointed individuals (that would be you) who somehow feel they have the right to judge a response that someone else made.
Why not take the time toshow us that you know what you are talking about. You can do that by actually helping resolve the original poster's thread instead of complaining. If you thought my response was hostile, it makes me wonder what alternate universe you live in.
Have a good day!

Erico,
If you are a volunteer then perhaps you need a vacation. I did do the clean boot. I have done it for the third time just now. It may be a gold mine to you but it didn't work for me.
Thank you for your time. I have had it with the insulting people at HP.
