I too have an HP Pavilion 8300f Media Center Edition and sure enough after being 2 years old I started to have boot problems and I tried with no avail to get Windows 7 on it.  It now sits as a hunk of junk in my basement with the same motherboard issue as everyone else.  Was this particular model a lemon?  If so, I think that HP owes us an explanation and a fix.   I paid over 1,000 dollars for this machine and it used to work great but now it is functionless.  What did anyone else do?  Did you replace the motherboard and have that work?  Did HP do anything for you?  Please let me know what you did to resolve this issue.  Thanks
