ok here is the whole story...
I have a HP a1412n.
It doesnt work.
It started having problems turning on a month ago. I took it to staples and had a new power supply installed. worked fine. now when i push the power button somtimes it comes on somtimes it comes on then turns right off. I opened it up and looked for anything obvious. nothing. so i tried to do system recovery. it goes through system recovery then goes to a blue screen:

if i dont select system recovery it goes to the safestart/regular start screen. ive tried all the options and it just comes back to the same screen.
ive run F1 (setup) reset all defaults...nothing
i tried to boot using the xp cd it gets to the part where it says to insert the cd and press enter. i do. then it says cd not reconised
also if i start it in safe mode it shows a black screen with a bunch of lines saying stuff about the drivers
other blue screen

Hi, let's try to address why the computer sometimes turns off during a boot.
Can you check the motherboard for any bad capacitor's. (leaking or deformed)
Check that all connector's are connected correctly.
Re-seat the memory.
Make sure to pull the power plug from the back of the case before you start.
