My desktop computer freezes after being on for about two minutes. It runs fine in safe mode, but as soon as I boot normally in freezes. The freeze is at various moments and in various program operations. When I ran diagnostics I received an error code: BIOHD-8

Normally, this indicates that your hard disk drive is about to fail. Backup all personal files and data you wisk to keep and create a set of HP Recovery Discs, if you haven't already done so. Purchase and install a new hard drive to replace the defective one if not in warranty. You could also test the hard drive in another computer to see if the error moves with the hard drive... this confirms the issue is with the hard drive.

So you have this problem and fixed it in this way?
Because there are a LOT of posts that strongly suggest that it is a motherboard issue, and I have seen zero posts saying people have fixed it by replacing the HDD. Some people fixed it for a short time, but it invariably comes back.

Hello tbald,
The error message generated is because of a hard drive failure. Not to say something else can't generate the rror such as the motherboard as that may be the case. But with the error message pointing to the hard drive then we have to start there, unfortunately that means even if it doesn't resolve the issue.
