I have an HP Slimline s5580t with Windows 7 (64) operating system.
It has the following problems:
Will not completely shut down. I have to force a shutdown.
Will not start up. I have to perform System restores to back up to a previous working version.
Mouse will occasionally not work. I have to switch USB ports and reboot.
Printer will not work. I have to switch USB ports and reboot.
External hard drive is not recognized. I have to switch USB ports and reboot.
It will not access shared drives on another computer because it does not have enough processor to load???
I am sooooooooooooo tired of rebooting....UGH.
I have no other programs open except a browser and notepad.
I want my emachine back with xp.. It ran slow but it was a tank and dependable.

Hi,
Did yuo make any hardware modifications to your PC?
Did you look at the available bios and software updates for your PC?
Did you burn a set of the HP recovery disks? Is your data backed up?
Open up the RUN window and enter the following:
cmd
sfc /scannow ----------> notice the space between the c and the /.
This will scan the critical system files and attempt repairs if needed.
If the above suggestions do not solve your issue then I would recommend doing a full HP system recovery back to day one. Then apply Windows 7 service pack 1 and subsequent updates.
