I have 2 Dell Dimension 4700 pc's at work (intel p4 2.8ghz HT cpu, 512 mb ram, 915G intel onboard graphics) and I recently purchased an Officejet 6500 wireless printer. I installed the drivers on my internet computer, and everything works great without a hitch (printer attached via usb).
I installed the drivers on my non-internet computer, which I have connected to the printer via ad-hoc wifi connection, and that works fine as well. The problem is that this computer, after installing the drivers for the printer, has been locking up at random intervals and forcing me to restart. This really wouldn't be a problem for me, because I am used to program glitches on computers, but I use quickbooks to manage my company's finances on the non-internet computer.
It just so happens that quickbooks saves everything you do, as soon as you do it (practically every action you take) so I am glad Intuit has the forethought to counteract issues like this.
I really don't want to lose the functional wifi printing because of my office layout, but if this issue does not get addressed I will have to eventually uninstall the hp drivers and hope it solves my issue. In my year of working at my current job this lock-up has NEVER occured until I installed the HP drivers about 2 weeks ago. Is there a solution to my problem?
Mike

We have a similar freezing problem on Officejet 6500 even without a WLAN.
Just having a printer connected with 2 options (as LAN and USB printer): computer (Mac with OS x 10.5.8) freezes over night, so I have to hard-restart it every morning. Disconnecting a direct USB cable and leaving only the LAN connection eliminates the problem.
