I called HP to give them a heads up. I just traded one Pavilion in tonight, for one I bought yesterday. I actually upgraded from the P6230Y for this one because it had a RAID hard drive error and the pictures were looking like there faces came off and trying to play catch up. The monitor also kept having flashing white lights across it. Very strange.
Then I trade and get this one and it starts ticking and black screen right out of the box! They kept asking me over and over like they never even heard of that. I thought I would just let them know that they are having some serious issues with these Pavilions since I found 2 different versions with 2 hard drive malfunctions, at two diffrerent stores an hour from each other, in two days!
Well, when I spoke to HP they said that they could mail me a new hard drive and fan, and plastic drive door, and tell me how to install it over the phone. WHAT??!!! It isn't even 1 day old!! That is crazy. I wouldn't ever buy an HP again!
They tried to even say that the carrier or handler must have dropped them, even though I bought them at two different stores!
They also told me they had a lot of recalls on defective models numbers E910F, E9180T, E9280F, M9600T, E9290F, M9650F ... they just made me stay on the phone for an hour and a half before they shared any info. I would just stay away from these; obviously they should be added to the recall list.
I would definitely hate to be someone getting something like this for Christmas, what a HUGE let down!! And to think your warranty time for returning it would be over!! Stay away from these duds ...and based on the technical support wanting the customer to build or rebuild their own computer, I would RUN to the nearest Dell department! I have always had luck with them with customer service! I have enjoyed my Dells, and I was just looking at the "pretty" picture and the offering that I thought HP had and let it temporarily sway me ... won't happen again.
