Pavilion a6655f locks up

I bought a a6655f pavilion about a month ago and everything runs awesome... except for the part when it locks up

See, it happens all the time when I'm running a 2D game, it's always the same thing I'm playing and the screen flicks then everything locks up, computer stops responding, and won't do anything at all... also the screen like stays with the stuff that I was watching but there are thin red vertical lines across all the screen, and then I have to manually reboot by pressing the on button for 5 secs or so, one time the computer did this and it turned itself off, then when I turned it on again, it wouldn't start... it just stood at the initial HP boot screen.

I think it's a display problem or I don't know, my drivers are up to date and my computer it's stock, I haven't changed anything.

Vista 64, Onboard NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430.

You may want to try updating with the latest NVIDIA driver for your graphics.

I am having the exact same problem, only mine is kinda sporadic about when it happens.  I had to return the first one I bought of this model cause it did this like 6 times during initial set-up.  The new one hasn't been as bad but it's still pretty frequent.  Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?  I like this computer otherwise and am outside my return policy so I have to get it working.

Well, I've had this computer for almost 2 months now and I have more experience on the problem... one of the things I've noticed is that it only does it once a day and then it stays fine for the rest of the day, driver update didn't help, I've ordered a graphic card and I hope it solves the problem because noone seems to know anything.

Yeah I've had this thing for a couple months as well.  I gotta say, a quad core should be able to handle the little bit of stuff I need from it.  I am not an intensive user and this thing pisses me off more every day.  Its responce time to even the simplest stuff is getting worse and this freeze issue is making me mad, it tends to happen in the middle of playing left4dead a lot.

After reading more forums about problems like this, I've come to the conclusion that the problem is the onboard chip, or card or whatever, I've read that people fixed this problem by returning the machine and the store replaced it with a not faulty MOBO, anyway, this is my conclusion based on what I've read, also I think it's true because I just upgraded to a HD4670 and it works awesome, and it isn't locking up anymore, so you either, return it and say it's damaged, or upgrade, I'd return it but I'm too lazy and I got rid of the problem already, so meh...
