Re: Message from HP regarding Elite Series Systems

BIOS Update for HP Pavilion Elite m96xx and e9xxx PCs using IPMTB-TK Motherboards with Intel i7 Processors

The IPMTB-TK Motherboard BIOS update improves system stability and resolves an issue which could prevent the system from starting up.

Please go to the Get software and drivers page and enter the model of your PC. Download and install the latest available IPMTB-TK Motherboard BIOS Update. The BIOS update containing code enhancements is version 5.22 (or later). This update is available only from the HP Customer Care Web site.

Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 2 contains several updates to improve system stability. If your computer has Microsoft Windows Vista and has not yet been updated with Service Pack 2, install Service Pack 2 using Microsoft Windows Update.

As good practice, automatically install important updates from HP and Microsoft. Make sure HP Update is turned on. To install updates automatically from Microsoft, make sure that Windows update is turned on. Having both of these software programs enabled provides your system with the latest updates as HP and Microsoft make them available.

For further troubleshooting tips, please refer to the document Windows Vista Locks Up, Freezes, or a Blue Screen Error Opens.
