brand new hp pavillion p7-1247C hangs coming out of sleep and with lan connection only

I just bought a brand new HP Pavillion p7-1247C from Costco a few weeks ago for the wife.  She has complained about it continually hanging and having to press the power on/off button to do a full reboot.  I spent a great deal of time with it over the last several days and have isolated the problem mainly to coming out of sleep mode and trying to connect tot he internet from the LAN connection (although there have been some hangs while just sitting there and running).  There is a blue circle over the LAN icon in the system tray that continuously spins and, once this happens, I can't even get the unit to shutdown or even bring up the task manager.  This morning, I changed the internet connection over to the wireless (I previously had it disabled) and disabled the LAN connection.  So far, there have been no hangs, although it is admittedly early in the test process.  I wonder if anyone else has seen this issue and has a solution?  If not, I am returning this box to Costco within the 90 day warranty period.

One day later and still no hangs while using wireless instead of the ethernet card. Bad ethernet card? Bad drivers?

Hi,

What is the bios level that the PC is running?  Bios version 7.16 rev A is that latest level posted.

Boot into the bios F10 setup and disable the below network boot setting if it is enabled.  Be sure to save the change.

I did not make the change you have suggested because it appears that the problem may be related to my NAS that is attached to my home network and to which I have drives mapped on this new HP machine.  I am using a Western Digital (WD) MyBook Live and, once I unplugged the ethernet cable, my new HP box is no longer hanging coming out of sleep.  I am still working the issue but it has been 3 days back with the box set back to use the wired LAN and no hangs.  If the situation changes, I will let you know and repost.
