cpu fan error

my brother-in-laws computer is getting a error massage saying "cpu fan error" and then it shuts off. he has a Pavilion a6000. i just purchased another fan for the cpu and i even replaced the heatsink and its still giving me that message. i have already took off all the dust from inside the case. i have tryed the Bios menu > advanced >  then once i get to the advanced menu i cant find were it says "hardware moniter". the bios that its currently running hasnt been updated since 2007 i beleive. i am currently trying to find an update for it on MY computer but im afraid that i may install a BIOS that isnt meant for my computer by accident. if you could please, link me the current BIOS i should install for my brother-in-laws computer i would very much appreciate it. oh, and do u think i can just save it to a blank DVD+R disk and just pop it into his computers disk drive? will it read the disk? will it help me with getting past the "cpu fan error"?

Re: cpu fan error

Was the CPU fan that you replaced working? Did you plug in the new CPU fan to the connector on the mother board that says CPU fan? That is the connector that is monitored and if it see no fan connected to it, it will shut down to protect the CPU.

Re: cpu fan error

Again the only advice I can give you is to be absolutely sure you have the CPU fan plugged into the CPU fan connector on the mother board. It should be marked as the CPU fan connection.
