e9280t problems and complaints

Considering buying the e9280t now that Windows 7 has replaced Vista.  I see there were a lot of problems with lockups, freezes, and hangs in the earlier models.  Can anyone tell me if this latest model has or hasn't solved these problems?  I've searched useing "e9280t" under this subject and don't see any posts even though it's been out for awhile.  Is this good news or what?  Thanks.

Re: e9280t problems and complaints

I too am waiting to hear the initial reports on 9280 / 9290 - but it may be a while before some reviews show up., as these are both new models and have been out just about a week or so now.

The thing to watch out for is the Mobo brand and type - if its the same as was used in the previous series (and is riddled with problems) or has been replaced with a different one - fingers crossed, i am waiting......

Re: e9280t problems and complaints

On this particular model, I first saw it advertised about two months ago and have been tracking it since.  I definately didn't want it with Vista preloaded so I've been tracking it since and waiting.  I'm surprised at the lack of user reviews, pro or con, but maybe everybody else did the same thing.

Re: e9280t problems and complaints

I too would like to buy an e9280t with Windows 7 but want to know that the (freeze/lockup - motherboard) problem everyone else is having is resolved before laying out that kind of cash.

Re: e9280t problems and complaints

BUYER BEWARE!

As an owner of a e9150t I emailed Pegatron  regarding the MOBO problem in our systems. They sent me back this email.

 Dear Sir,

I’m sorry to say that unfortunately, though our engineer have struggled this problem for weeks, we are not able to find the root cause.

So we have no solution yet.

Best Regards

If I was you guys I would look real hard and see if the same MOBOs are in the new systems. Good luck all.

Re: e9280t problems and complaints

I checked the available specs on the HP site and it lists pegatron IPM TB-TK as the mobo for the 9280.  How long ago was it that you got that sorry email?  You would think that if HP is aware of the mobo problem they would contract for a new mobo supplier.

Re: e9280t problems and complaints

If someone has anything to report on this I'd like to know. If I'm going to send back my e9180t for one that works, I'm interested in finding out whether this one is worth the hassle and wait.

I got that email about a week ago. Yeah you would think they would get a new supplier but apparently not. The IPMTB-TK is the same board that we have. If I was going to buy now I think I would go with a custom builder like Puget systems or whatever. I would have to pay more but how much is peace of mind worth?
I have heard that Pegatron is stepping up their quality control so who knows. If you have the patience to wait it out go for it. If not do what you have to do.

Re: e9280t problems and complaints

I just sent an email to HP addressing my concerns about the mobo.  I'd like to hear their excuses or cop outs.  If they can't come up with something good I guess I'll take your advice and shop elsewhere.  Thanks.

Re: e9280t problems and complaints

I have a unit that locks up.  Until I found this thread (today) I thought it was either just my computer or just something I had done.  Now I know that I am far from alone.....  I feel silly about having spent hours (on several occasions) with HP Tech Support chasing down dead end solutions.

I want to vent to HP.  What is a good email address to use please?
