hp 3.0 usb port connected to 3.0 usb external drive causes internet to stop working.

When my HPE H8-1280T computer's 3.0 port connected to a Hitachi Touro Desk 3.0 usb external drive, my computer's Internet will become unstable and stop working.  I have switched to the different 3.0 ports on my HP but with the same result.  My Hitachi Touro desk 3.0 usb external drive works but my HP Internet comes to a halt unless I remove the 3.0 usb cable attached to it.  I also noticed the transfer rate starts from 3-digit (175) where it suppose to be at that range and slowly drop down to (57) a little more than the regular 2.0 usb transfer speed.  Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

Be sure to use the AC power adapter for the drive as it might be drawing too much power.

The change in throughput might be related to the above or due to many small files being transferred.

Re: hp 3.0 usb port connected to 3.0 usb external drive causes internet to stop working.

Thanks for the info.  I do have the power plug in for the Hitachi drive.  I am going to connect the USB 3.0 to the motherboard tomorrow instead the one on top of the computer to see any difference.

Re: hp 3.0 usb port connected to 3.0 usb external drive causes internet to stop working.

The motherboard 3.0 USB works better than the one on the top.  It is working without crashing the Internet but very slow.  The solution that I found is to unistall Firefox browser from control panel and resinstall the browser again.  Guess what, the browser works the way it should be wiithout crashing while I was using the Hitachi drive
