Hello Exsaris, You might try updating the drivers for the Microsoft wireless mouse.
There may be a conflict between the HP wireless keyboard and the Microsoft wireless mouse.
Have you tried any keyboards or mouse that are not wireless?
If a non-wireless keyboard and mouse work without issues, this might give some indication that the system is not the problem, but perhaps the wireless devices.

Hello Exsaris, You can perform a set your Windows Updates to manual and then perform a Custom scan at the Windows update site and it will detect all the updates for your system. If you look in the Optional section, you should find any drivers that were found.
I would not suggest downloading all the drivers from Microsoft, but only the ones that you think you might need. It is a well known issue with some Microsoft hardware drivers, that they can wreak havoc with a system, especially audio, video and network drivers.
I always go to the manufacturer's web site and locate and download any drivers for these devices.

ahh thnx, im downloading the mouse driver as we speak! what u said about only using manufacturers for drivers, how do i find out the 1s for my mother board? or should i just leave that as it is?
hmm just downloaded the driver for the mouse and its up to date, maybe its just as u said a conflict because im using 2 different recievers? ive ordered a wired mouse 2night so should come soon, but could there be any other obvious reasons for freezing when left alone and sometimes when gaming?
cheers dave

Hello Exsaris, Since your system is new, I would not expect you to need any drivers for it this soon. You can always go to the HP site and look for support for your system if you ever need any drivers.
My inclination is that there is a conflict between the two USB dongles. There could be other issues causing this freeze you mention, but you pretty much searched it down to the wireless devices.
When the wired mouse arrives, you can see if that does not resolve the issue. I suspect it will.
In the mean time, you might try putting one of the USB adapters in the rear of the system and the other in the front port of the system, just to get them away from each other, if you have not already. This may not make a difference, but you never know.
Here is the link for the specifications for your system. It shows the system shipped with an Nvidia video card. The card model is a GeForce GT545. You can go to the Nvidia web site and locate, download and install the video drivers for your system. These video card drivers are usually newer than the ones that shipped with your system.

yeah i have mouse in the back and keyboard in the front, but as u say i agree that i think that they conflict because it seems to be fine with the keyboard unplugged! hopefully it will resolve when the mouse arrives but will just have to wait and see!
on a side note with nothing to do with this problem, i dont suppose u could recomend a decent graphic card for gaming to replace this geforce 545, i had a look on the nvidia site but the only thing i really understand is the price
, if u cant recomend 1 no problems and thnx for the help!
cheers dave
edit: ya i am downloading the only update thats for my card atm so should be good! ill mark as solved just now because i do believe ur right about the adapters for wireless things, just hope it sorts it out ![]()

Hello Exsaris, I'm sorry I don't really know a lot about high performance video cards. I never have played any video games. I have an Nvidia Quadro series video card which is far from a gaming card.
I did notice that your power supply was a 460 watt version, so any higher performing video card would likely require a higher wattage power supply as well.
Most high performing video cards require at least a 500 watt or higher power supply. I would suggest at least a 600 wat or higher, depending on the video card.
