motherboard crash with HP Pavilion Slimline s3620f Desktop

Hey,

I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s3620f Desktop.  A few weeks ago it suddenly froze and crashed.  I tried to re-boot.  The fans came on, the CD drive has power and key bord lights blinkt once.  But thats it.  Not even the Bios booted up.  The monitor stays dark.

So I got a new mother board, it was refurbished but it worked.  It worked for 1 week.  And than it stopped again.  The PC doesn't even boots the Bios.

Does anyone has an idea how to fix it?

Hi,

Try this procedure and see if you can isolate the issue. Trouble Shooting Power Supply Issues. Don’t skip any steps.

During the week when the replacement motherboard worked, did you use any heavy video intensive applications?

Re: motherboard crash with HP Pavilion Slimline s3620f Desktop

Thanks,

I tried all the steps but still no success.  The monitor stays dark (tested it with other PC, it works).

The only power indicators I get are:

- keyboard lights are on for 1 second

- CPU and power supply fans are running

- can open/close CD drive

- power switch is eliminated and functional

- green solid LED on back of power supply

- it sounds like the hard drive is spinning

When it crashed the first time with the original mother board, it happened during hibernation.  The second time I in fact run a small video (you tube), but nothing too heavy.

Hi,

It's time for the local PC repair shop.  Are you getting any beeps? Try clearing the CMOS.

Frankly I would cut my losses and buy a new PC and not a slimline model.  Save the HD so you can recover your data.
