i have a pavilion elite m9400f desktop. when i run any kind of program or application it will freeze up in about 5 mins. i will not get the blue or black screen or get a window saying that there is a problem. whatever i am doin at that point of time it will stick with that. i have done different diagnostics tests with all of them passing. i have tested anywhere from the quad core, motherboard to the video card. all of which is passing. but the system stress test is the only test which it will freeze up. also i do not have internet on it at this point of time but i did like 8 months ago back in south korea(yes i am in the military). i have called the hp tech support but they have just done the same tests i have done already. go figure, they are following their standard checklist and it gets annoying after awhile. i have talked to 3 of them already for a hour each with no help. could someone please help me. any help with be appreciated. thank you
Chris

so i have talked to a couple more of the hp tech supports. one of them said the motherboard might have to be replaced, and the other said i need to update the bios. been looking through some of the other topics and it seems like the update for bios download doesnt seem to work. can someone confirm this. or is there another one out there that might work. the comp has vista 64 bit.

If you are using Flash player, turn off hardware acceleration. If you have a NVIDIA video card, then you might want to go to the NVIDIA site and look for an update.
Is your current bios level 5.17? There are two 5.17 bios updates posted. Try the latest. It looks like it fixes a lot of issues.

the tech support told me to go to that page. but said the bios update was for motherboard MS 7548, bios version 5.13 date 7/2009 size 1.86 mb. told me to look for that one but didnt see it. can i still use one of those even tho it being for a different motherboard? but if i can use one of those, does it matter which one i can use? and im not using a flash player for as i know and i dont have a NVIDIA video card, im using ATI Radeon HD 3650 which came in the comp. i dont know what my surrent bios level is. where can you go to check that. thanks for all input

Use the HP Support Assistant to find your motherboard type and bios level. Ot use the Beltac tool that I gave you a link to.
There are two different motherboard listed for your model.

The PC was bought 6 months ago but i have lost the receipt .However I have got the box and everything that this PC came with , just the receipt is gone . Is there a chance that at the HP store they will replace the motherboard with new one for free ?

Your motherboard is not a MS-7548, do not update to version 5.13, it will brick your board. The latest bios rev for you board is 5:17.
It's list here:
