I've had this s3620f (bought on Newegg) for approx 1 yr...1month (no warranty refurb) I already know the mobo is bad, what is an aftermarket board I can purchase?
I've included the details of my troubles below.
s3620f won't boot
power light on

PS light on
no boot, bios etc. just black screen
Tried:
Unseating / reseating RAM

Still nothn..... must be motherboard, right?

This computer has a slimline chassis ie smaller chassis when compared to the normal chassis.
Its motherboard form factor is "Mini-ITX" 19.3 cmx 7.3 cm. Check with any computer store if you can get similar size motherboard.
Once you change the motherboard don't expect the OS that came with your computer to work you should get a full version OS.

This is odd. My sister has the s3620f purchased new Nov, 2008 and has the exact same symptoms. Died 4 weeks out of warranty. $600+ down the drain. Is it possible there is a design defect here? I'd be interested to find out what your solution turns out to be. I was suspecting the video, but don't have access to a low profile pcie video board to try and she doesn't want to throw good money after bad. Also, the PSU is so low powered on these you are really limited as to what you can put in the box.

This has the Irvine GL6E motherboard. The Nvidia GPU (GeForce 7100) has failed. HP and Nvidia are apparently ignoring these mobo,s. They did do an extended warranty on Slimlines with the HermatiteXL mobo, now expired, but we are left with expensive doorstops. I have 2 of these, S3720Y and S3507C, same mobo same problem.

I know for sure the MB is bad on my rig. Installed a low profile vid card and still no display, beeps, nothing. It powers up, fans spin, but no activity lights for the HD. Problem I have now is that I've purchased a new mini-ITX MB but the 24pin power plug is smaller on the original board than on the new one, which uses a standard 24pin ATX plug. I need to jimmy/find an adapter to be able to use the smaller plug on the new board. Anyone know of where I can buy one? Ebay has the opposite of what I need: ATX power supply to an HP mini-ITX MB.

Ur going to need to buy a power supply now. Specifically for a mini itx to fit. You should have located a similar board to what's in it now. In regards to a previous poster, you do not need to buy a new operating system. The Microsoft Vista COA, the 25 digit license number is yours. Beg or borrow or download a copy of Vista and reinstall. Download additional software from HP.

I did. And found one on Ebay for $110 which was a used board which may also have been dead for all I know. Buying a power supply to fit this case is not gonna happen. Will rewire the current plug w/an ATX type.

My s3620f failed after 14 months, similar to the other posts. After power on, some brief whirling but NO beeps. Monitor stays black, does NOT go into startup or Windows. Only shows, "Power Saving Mode". Monitor works fine on all OTHER computers in house. Disassembled/reassembled, blowing off dust. Keyboard and mouse do not work. None of the "F" keys work (F10, F8, whatever).
Is there an extended warranty on this mother board???

There is no extended warranty on this particular board. But, it wouldn't hurt to contact HP to see if someone's in a good mood. I've replaced at least a half dozen of these. Several 3620's , a couple of 3720's, and a 3400. It's a great board when it 's working, but it is prone to the Nvidia chip failure.
