My brother is the registered admin on my laptop. He says he last used the laptop 2 years ago so he can't remember his password. Is there a way for me to move my files onto an external hard drive, restore the laptop and load my files back onto the internal hard drive in an admin account?

I 've had this issue for several months, I've asked about resetting the admin password and I was told I just have to restore the laptop. I have important documents and files I'd like to keep. I can't delete virus programs or download necessary programs because of the lack of knowing the admin password. I'm throughly annoyed by the situation and would love for someone to help find a desired solution quickly.

Depending on the version of Windows, try booting in Windows Safe Mode and see if the Administrator account is accessible.
