If I understand correctly you are stuck in the Windows 8 Repair loop and are having issues getting out. Try the steps I have outlined below to get out of the loop.
Step 1. Choose Advance repair options at the Repair loop
Step 2. Choose Troubleshoot
Step 3. Choose Advanced options
Step 4. Choose Startup settings
Step 5. Choose Restart button - computer should restart
Step 6. Choose Safe mode
You indicated Hard Disk 1 in your post can you explain further if this is an issue?

My friends son came over to help and having sat watching him, it looks like steps he took were the same or very similar to what you posted.
Touch wood everything seems fine again now.
