Hi, purchased from newegg.com the following machine:

HP Debranded TS-00005S-AMDX409 Refurbished Desktop PC Athlon II X2 220(2.80GHz)

as described by them. Installed windows xp on it and need ethernet drivers. Where would I find them?

Open the side cover and look for an identification or part number on the motherboard. Once you have done that then finding the driver should be pretty straightforward.

Re: HP Debranded TS-00005S-AMDX409 Refurbished Desktop PC Athlon II X2 220(2.80GHz)

Hi thanks for the quick reply :smileyhappy:

I got what I think is the number from a barcode on the MB but not sure what to do with it now.

PBNWP0FD6Z121K (the zero might be an O)

Subcode next to it:

AS#624832-001

The only other visible marking on MB was: INFINEON-B 624832-001 but I don't think that's useful from where it was located.

Where can I plug this info in to get driver info?

Thanks again this is a huge help.

Download Belarc Advisor on another machine, move it via usb flash drive or cd to the HP machine and run it to profile the machine. Many times it can give the original HP model number of the machine. With that model number we should be able to track down all drivers. If it can't retrieve the model number it should at least id the motherboard model.

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Btw, there should also be a name printed in semi large numbers directly on the motherboard, such as M2N68-LA, but a profile from Belarc might be the best option.

OK.

From the numbers you provided (INFINEON-B 624832-001) it appears like you have an H-Apricot-RS780L-uATX (Apricot) motherboard.

The NIC is onboard and is a PCI Realtek RTL8105E. Here are the drivers for Windows XP sourced from a Czech Realtek website that I have used for years.

Nice detective work Eric. I thought the Infineon was in reference to memory.:smileyhappy:

So, that motherboard has AMD 760 Chipset?

Here is the official Realtek webpage for fast ethernet network drivers. Please select the 3rd item down the list for XP drivers.

My research has shown that to be the case . That can be verified visually  on the motherboard.
