High CPU Usage

[ Edited ]

HP Pavilion 23 AiO PC

{Personal Information Removed}

Product #: HSY90AA#ABA

Model #: 23-b010

Operating System: Windows 8 64-bit

Hi, less than a month ago I bought an all in one HP and since a week ago or so the Norton Internet Security program is detecting high levels of PCU usage, the system is using up to 100%.  Consequently, windows 8 browser is slowing down and freezing.  I would greatly appreciated if someone could help me with this problem.

BTW: since I bought the computer I have downloaded Microsoft 2013, iTunes, drop box and Mozilla Firefox.  And the slow internet is not due to my internet connection as my other computers are working perfectly.

Thanks in advance

Re: High CPU Usage

Hello mr32826,

I would like to know what is using the 100%

Can you make a screenshot of your  task manager?

Go to the desktop interface and right click on it > A menu will pop up >  Click on start task manager.

Winos.

Re: High CPU Usage

Which, if any, of the programs you listed were installed just before the problem started?

I would suggest uninstalling Office 2013 and see if the problem persists. Or you might try one of these solutions:

http://www.looselytyped.net/2012/07/17/office-2013-graphics-crash-on-my-laptop/

http://www.askvg.com/tip-improve-microsoft-office-2013-performance-by-disabling-unnecessary-animatio...

If none of those things help, try uninstalling each of the other new applications, one at a time. Please let us know if this helps!

With all respect.

I personally don't think the problem is coused by office.

You will need to do a few things.

Step 1

Go to your control panel and go to programs and features > look if there is any java or flash.

Delete it!!

(Later i tell why)

Step 2

Can you download this program for me?

Download and install the following program:
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/ (Click on the download button.)
Do a system scan and update all your programs untill it says 100% your software is up to date.

What is Secunia PSI ?
Secunia PSI is a program that checks if your software is up to date.
It will update almost all programs automaticaly.

Step 3

Now you need to download the following program:

Java 8,

Many people have java 6 or and 7 on their PC, they are out of date and viruses will pop into your system!

(Police virus aka Randsomware.trojan)

Windows 8
Press the start button (On the keyboard) > Type control panel and press enter > Go to Programs and Features > Delete all Java installations. > Restart your PC

After the restart go to http://jdk8.java.net/download.html and download java 8. I preffer 32Bit.

You now have a more secure java.

Finally, restart your system.

Post in the following post if you still have trouble.

Winos.

Step 4

I think it is time for you to download a better browser.

Like http://www.browserchoice.eu/BrowserChoice/browserchoice_en.htm
I tested Opera,Firefox,Ineternet Explorer,Chrome,and Maxthon.
I preffer Maxthon as browser. It really is fast!

Download Maxthon.  http://www.maxthon.com/

When you install maxthon you will need to uncheck some "Checkboxes or Radiobuttons"

If the installer is there go to Advanced > Uncheck join UEIP > Click on next. > After the installation it will ask you for a toolbar or something. >Click on the X in the right corner > Accept that you don't want that.

Now Maxthon is installed altrough it says installtion aborted.

Good luck with all these steps.

Winos.

Re: High CPU Usage

Now we are improving Maxthon.

As you can see you have a stupid smile on the left corner.

Click on the radar (Under, left) click on Hide Sidebar.

If you have done all these steps please report this.

Be aware, you have to do a bit more :smileyhappy:  Sorry,

Winos.
