hp 802.11b/g wireless network adapter driver not compatible windows 8

I have a HP Pavilion P7-1054 and my RealtecNetwork Adapter will not work after installing Window 8, 64 bit.  Have an error "Network Adapter is not Available" .

Re: hp 802.11b/g wireless network adapter driver not compatible windows 8

There are two network devices

Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller which uses the inbox Windows 8 driver (onboard LAN)

    - This is not a wireless device

hp 802.11b/g wireless network adapter

    - This is your wireless adapter.

Which one is not working?

What driver version is loaded for the device that is not working? Is there an error code?

Re: hp 802.11b/g wireless network adapter driver not compatible windows 8

Both, neither the Wireless or Lan Connection would work.  The Windows 8 update was applied that I downloaded from HP SP59442 and SP59333.  Thanks for answering.

That didn't fix the problem.  Thanks for the suggestion.  I really don't know what else I can do.  Sorry to say not smart enough I guess.

Re: hp 802.11b/g wireless network adapter driver not compatible windows 8

What's the Plug and Play ID of your Wireless LAN card?

Open Device Manager, Network adapter, right mouse click the Wireless adapter, select Properties, Details tab, from the Properties drop down menu, select Hardwareid:

PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_????&SUBSYS_????????

Re: hp 802.11b/g wireless network adapter driver not compatible windows 8

Since neither the LAN or Wireless Adapter works here is the information:

 WIRELESS: PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_5390&SUBSYS_F0511814&REV_00

Realtek PCIe FE Family Controler:

PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136SUBSYS_2AB1103C&REV_05

Hopr this helps.

The wireless LAN driver is on Windows Update. You can also download it from here.

As for the Realtek LAN driver, try installing this.

Choose the Windows 8 Auto Installation program

[ Edited ]

Since none the things I have tried worked so far.  I think I will just reinstall Windows 7 until I can figure out why the LAN and Wireless Adapters don't work in Windows 8.  I may take the computer to Best Buy where I bought it and have them install Windows 8.  Thanks for the help.

Re: hp 802.11b/g wireless network adapter driver not compatible windows 8

Well, I think I got the LAN Adapters to work.  What I did was use the HP System Recovery and it loaded Windows 8, to my surprise, as I thought it would reload Windows 7 System into the computer.  Since it just loaded the System and not the Applications when I checked this morning I had Internet and Email.  So I think what happend is the ESet Internet Security did not turn off and this prevented upload of the drivers.  So I thank you for your help, all is well.  Now on to learn a new Operating System.
