Try turning off UAC and disabling the firewall while you are updating. You can add the HP website as an exception in the firewall to make it simpler.
What are you using for a firewall/antivirus solution?

Mine is also doing the same thing. I tried doing what u said & it is not working. Can someone plz help me fix my problem. Trying to down load my printer software & it is saying I do not have hpqcutil.dll.

You might try downloading and reinstalling Photosmart Essentials, that can be found Here .
