sp46442 Bios Update issue

I updated the the BIOS on my HP Pavilion Elite m9152p Desktop PC.  The issue I have is that there is no keyboard function until the computer passes the OS selection screen.  You have to wait for the 30 sec time-out for the Windows Splash screen to launch.  No other issue after that.

Thanks

Re: sp46442 Bios Update issue

Boot into the BIOS and enable USB Legacy Support. I'm not sure where that option would be located in your BIOS but just tinker around a bit and after enabling that you should have your keyboard functionality back even in the Windows Splash Screen.

Re: sp46442 Bios Update issue

Pressing F10 to attempt to enter Setup at the Splash Screen is non-responsive.  I believe that generic keyboard drivers are not being loaded as they should be during the boot process.  Keyboard/mouse driver are not being loaded until Windows boots.

Re: sp46442 Bios Update issue

Sounds like a PS/2 keyboard will be needed until a BIOS enter is complete.  Some systems will not cooperate with a USB keyboard until the OS is up and running.

Re: sp46442 Bios Update issue

Before the latest BIOS Upgrade,sp46442, during the boot process, the system did respond to keyboard inputs such as F8/F10 with my usb keyboard.

Re: sp46442 Bios Update issue

It is still my advice to use a PS/2 keyboard to enter the BIOS and change the setting to allow the USB keyboard to function.  The response that it worked before only supports that.  Installing the BIOS update probably reset that function to recognize the USB keyboard at BIOS splash screen.

See the post by Djmhx, above to put it back.

Re: sp46442 Bios Update issue

I plugged my keyboard into the PS/2 port using a USB to PS/2 adapter, rebooted the computer and am receiving the same result.  Even after the OS loads the standard PS/2 ports on the computer are non-responsive.  I again assert that keyboard drivers are not being loaded with this BIOS Update.

Rich,

Try clearing the CMOS.  Disconnect all the USB devices other than the keyboard and mouse.

I have the same mobo in one of my PCs (m9200t) and I am running the 5.43 bios.

Does the light on the keyboard flash about the time the HP blue scrren shows up?

Did you change any of the hardware in your PC?

Re: sp46442 Bios Update issue

I reconnected my USB keyboard into a USB port on the  computer as apposed to the USB hub and  the issue appears to be resolved.  I am able to enter Setup with F10 at the OS Splash Screen and can select the OS on the second screen.

Thanks
