I can't get my hp to go into sleep mode? I tried advanced settings and changed the time, with no difference. I also stopped active updates on the home screen? This is windows 8.1? Thanks Bruce

Open Command Prompt(Admin)
enter:"powercfg /requests" (without quotation marks), also try: "powercfg /lastwake"
Win 8.1 should display the process or processes that is/are waking the computer.
Same OS (Win 8.1) as you. Also having that issue. My system will sleep but wakes up. I have run this command and found zero. You may find something.
BTW, When using Win 8 my system would sleep correctly. Could be a bug??

Hi brucefl. What is the model number of your notebook? Usually the power settings can be separately designed based on whether or not the power is plugged in, or you are on battery power.

Same issue here. My machine won't go to sleep after upgrade to Windows 8.1. Energy report does not identify anything that would prevent the system from sleeping. If I force it to sleep it will but not automatically.
Looks like another bug.

Yesterday I figured I wold try a suggestion and shut my ethernet off, and it seem to work for a while.
This morning starting up, seems to have gone back to not going to sleep.
So it has something to do with that, so it seems.
Definately a bug, also found one with flash on 8.1 with the video hiccupping.

Have you had any luck. I tried it again today. When the adapter is off sleep mode works fine. I am assuming after the upgrade to 8.1 that has something to do with sharing possibly.
