I've had my HP DV5000 for about 3 yrs now. The last time I used my recovery CD's one almost didn't work any longer. I'm out of town at the moment and attempted to burn a few set of recovery CD's and it won't let me because only one set is alowed per machine. There has to be a way around this but I'm no wiz. I downloaded and installed a huge windows update about 2 weeks ago and my machine has ran like crap every since. Please help!!

Just in case you go looking for the files listed in the batch file, you will probably not see them. I fired up a cygwin shell to actually see them. Windows will naturally protect you from seeing them. You can also de-select the folder option "Hide protected operating system files..." from within Tools->Folder Options.

This is indeed the idea but it DOESN'T work. My disc got corrupted and can't recover anymore, pressing F6 or F11 (whatever that is) doesn't work to recover from recovery partition. HP is asking me 50 bucks to get set of recovery discs. I think its unfair to make me pay for something that I have already paid for.
Any working solution is most welcome.

Did you try to make your Recovery Media" when you got the computer? Or is that what you are saying is corrupted? If not, try doing the recovery from the media you can make yourself. See here:http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph08097
Here are the instructions on what to do with them.
If you cannot make the Recovery Media and need help, please return for more help.
BTW: XP or Vista?
Please click "Accept As Solution" if my help has solved your problem. ----------}

I have new HP Pavlion dv6-2005ax.
hpcd.sys not working because that changed to hpdrcu.prc,
search and delete all hpdrcu.prc file. It is worked well for me.
I want to creacte another recovery disc. because ordered recovery disc is not as same as that recovery disc created from my computer.
hp ordered recovery disc take more time to recover the OS than my recovery disc.
