hp cq5600f
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

i have an older desktop - cq5600f - and thought to upgrade from win 7 to win 10. The video card that came with the machine, NVIDFEA Geforce 6150, is not usable with win 10. I called NVIDEA and they said I need to determine if the motherboard will accept an upgraded card.  I don't know how to determine that. Anyone have an idea?

Toni, welcome to the forum.

You should run HP and Windows Updates to assure that the software and drivers are up to date before proceeding.

There is a PCI Express x16 slot on the motherboard for a discrete video card.  However, you would have to upgrade the power supply unit (PSU).  The existing PSU is only 250W.  Most newer video cards require at least 400W to operate properly.  Also, video cards newer than the GT 640 series require UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  HP didn't begin using UEFI until mid-October, 2012.
