SATA drivers for XP

Important information!

 

  • Before You will do anything please create a set of recovery discs.

      Resources:

      Using HP Backup and Recovery Manager in Vista 

      Creating the Recovery Disc Set in Windows 7

 

  • All drivers and pre-installed software in current system on your notebook (laptop) are in C:\swsetup folder. If You still have it on HDD then copy

         this folder to CD/DVD. You may need them someday.

 

Guide:

 

Install CPU-Z in Your current system. You may download this program from here.

Below screen shows were You will find links to this software on CPU-Z home page.

Run it and click on ' Mainboard ' tab.

You will find there two important informations about your chipset:

 

  • brand (in above example Intel)

and

 

  • type (in above example PM965)

 

 

If Your chipset brand is:

 

  • Intel

      Go to point A and do everything what's written there.

 

  • Nvidia

      Go to point B and do everything what's written there.

 

 

 

 

 

 

A) Intel

 

 

If You've got few Intel models and You want to have only one installtion disk for all of them then:

 

 

You need to slipstream Intel Sata drivers with nLite.

If You've got only one Intel model then You may want to slipstream only this driver which You really need:

 

 

For models with H55, H57, P55 or Q57 chipset:

 

You need to slipstream Sata drivers (only 5 Series/3400 Series SATA AHCI Controller) with nLite.

For models with G43, G45, P43, P45  or X58 chipset:

 

You need to slipstream Sata drivers  (only ICH10R SATA AHCI Controller ) with nLite.

For models with Q43 or Q45 chipset:

 

You need to slipstream Sata drivers  (only ICH10D/DO SATA AHCI Controller ) with nLite.

For models with G33, P35, Q33, Q35, X38 or X48 chipset:

 

You need to slipstream Sata drivers  (only ICH9R/DO/DH SATA AHCI Controller ) with nLite.

For models with G965, P965, Q963, Q965 or G35 chipset:

 

You need to slipstream Sata drivers  (only ICH8R/DH/DO SATA AHCI Controller) with nLite.

For models with 945G, 945GZ, 945P, 945PL, G31, P31 or G41chipset:

 

You need to slipstream Sata drivers  (only ICH7R/DH SATA AHCI Controller ) with nLite.

B) Nvidia

 

 

You don't need to slipstream any Sata drivers.

Please check only with which Service Pack (SP) is Your XP disk. It should be at least SP2. How to do it?

When You will find out then Your XP copy is with SP0 or SP1 use below documents to check how You may slipstream SP2 with it:
