Serial number and model

I have had to replace the system board on my a6720f the new refurbished part has a different model number and product number and the restore comes back with a configuration error I need help setting the correct information

Tmoon, welcome to the forum.

 

The problem that you are going to have with the Recovery media is that HP motherboards are tatooed with the major components of the computer.  Therefore, the media will only work with the original motherboard.  You will have to buy a full version of Windows.

I know, I was wanting to know how to set the model number string in the bios  the same system board is used in many models

HP has their BIOS'es locked.  They are not enthusiast grade motherboards and don't allow for that type of tweaking.

do you know how to hack the restore disk to change the model string it is compatable with i have a win 7 disk build and it could care less i wanted to get the customers system back to original if possible
