Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I received a notice from HP that a software update was available (PC Bios Update ROM Family SSID 81B7), which I attempted to install on my desktop computer.  I received an elert from my virus software that the downloaded software contained a virus (Sonar.Heristic.158) and recommended I terminate the download.  Is anyone else having this problem?

Do you know the number of the update?  It should be something like 'SP77777.exe'.

Let the download complete.

Note that your anti-virus called it a "heuristic".

That's a generic term for "it may smell like a virus, but we're not sure, just yet".

Access:  www.VirusTotal.com

Select the downloaded file, and "submit" it.

Over 50 different anti-virus programs will scan the file, and give you a summary of which ones detect it, and which do not.

You could be getting a "false positive" result from your anti-virus program.

Force your anti-virus program to update, and get it to re-scan the file.

Maybe, the updated virus-definitions will _not_ produce the "false-positive" result.
