What is "RAIDXpert"? Is it necessary?

I have a new Pavilion Elite 210f.  It came with a 1TB hard drive.  I notice some software from AMD called "RAIDXpert."  When I click on the icon, it takes me to this web site:

Can anyone tell me the purpose of this software?  I notice that it consumes 71MB of memory, and there seem to be two other programs related to it.

Is it necessary for anything? Can I uninstall it?

Many thanks!

Re: What is "RAIDXpert"? Is it necessary?

Your PC was probably shipped "RAID ready" meaning you can add another hard drive and set it up for RAID if you desire to do so.  You can always get the software back by using the HP Recovery Manager.

Did you burn a set of the HP Recovery Disks?  It takes three DVD+Rs.  How about the PC Doctor bootable diagnositc CD? Burn one of those for future needs.
