Can you reboot, and enter "Safe Mode", or is totally unbootable?

HP Recommended

Yes it went to safe mode and was able to re boot...   this pc is only 4 months old and still under warranty... what should we check now to make sure this is all o.k ... what is your instructions from here to ensure my pc is o.k

Checking our event log, it says Critical error.. kernel power  code 41 (63)

The device-driver software for the video-adapter had  a problem, and stopped responding.

Then, Windows crashed after trying to "recover" (by unsuccessfully trying to resetart the device-driver software).

The crash was so "sudden" that Windows could not complete any "in-progress" updating of the files on the 'C:' drive.

The "kernel" (the "heart" of Windows) noticed that the power went off.

Did you "hard-power-off" the computer, and then power-on to reboot?

If so, you caused the "power code 41".

Did this occur just once?

Does this occur once a month?

Does this occur once a day?

Does this occur once an hour?

If it is "infrequent" or "rare", I would not try to do anything.

Is that the case for you?

No we didnt "Hard Power Off" at all.    only safe mode re-boot upon prompt from p.c after crash

At this stage it has only happened once and show this critical error.

should there be any update for this driver issue ??

i have checked my device manager and states we are up to date with latest driver but windows update keeps attempting to download and update the 530 graphics driver update but fails each time.

is this relevant to the problem ??

Any non-trivial piece of software can have a problem.

This is especially true for a "real-time" system such as Windows, where "interrupts" (mouse-movements, keyboard input, disk-drive activity, Internet traffic, et cetera) can occur at "random" times.

So, if it is "only once", don't worry about it.  Record the event, collect more data on future incidents, and "move on".

> should there be any update for this driver issue ??

Without a full "post-mortem" of the crash, it would be extremely difficult to identify the source.

Is Windows Update failing to download the update from Microsoft's servers,

or has it successfully download the update,

but is it failing to install the update?

Within Device Manager, double-click that graphic-adapter device.

Click "uninstall".

Reboot.

Now that the update is not installed, run Windows Update to install the update.

Reboot after the installation completes.

Windows is failing to download the update , so therefore cannot be installed.....  It never states any numbers with it , just says

Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) HD Graphics 530

Those messages indicate that the download of the update HAS completed, because it cannot try to install until 100% of the update has been received.  Similarly, you cannot start to drink a Starbucks coffee BEFORE the barista hands it to you. It might be too hot, at first, causing a "failure" for you to sip any of the liquid, even though the cup has been "delivered" to you.

To repeat: uninstall the current device-drive, reboot, and run Windows Update to install the update.

Just unistalled the driver as requested and it re booted and installed driver no. 20.19.15.4404    the version we already had on our pc was 21.20.16.4551   .

we did a windows update and all it brought up was Intel corp driver  no. 21.20.16.4551 as an optional update. which was the driver we already had installed on our pc..

What now ..
