Cant find cd/dvd driver

I have a HP Pavilion dv8135nr and my driver for cd/dvd drive does not work says my driver is corrupt. I already uninstalled it and reinstalled it. I would use the disk that came with my laptop but guess what my cd/dvd drive doesnt work. Any help would be great. And I dont want to go to a site and pay for it. HP does not have it on there site. Thanks for any help.

Try:
Removing Upper and Lower Filters

Step 1:
Click Start > type "regedit" in the Start Search box, and then click "regedit" in the Programs list.
 
Locate, and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

right-click UpperFilters, and then click Delete.

right-click LowerFilters, and then click Delete.

Step 2:
Click

Start, Right click on Computer and go to Manage, then in Computer Management, click Device Manager
 
Click

the "+" next to DVD/CDROM Drives and Right Click and Uninstall the Driver
and check "Delete the driver software for this device" and click Uninstall
 
Restart and Test the Drive ...

How about a driver that suddenly needs to be updated? (and I'm not getting any corrupt driver error -- just can't use the CD drive)

Which driver(s) do I need to d/l from the drivers page?  There's nothing called a "DVD/CD ROM driver" on this page:

In case it matters, it's a Compaq Presario 2000 laptop.

It is listed under Firmware updates.That is if your cd/rom drive model number is the same as the one listed here.DVD/CDRW Drive (GCC-4243N) Firmware Update.
