Hello all.
I am trying to create recovery disks for my HP desktop computer. When I load RecoveryMgr.exe it just gives me an error and asks if I want to search online for a solution. No solution can be found.
Heres the error details:
Problem signature:

I have no virus or firewall software installed currently. Its Windows 7 Home Premium.
COMPUTER: Pavilion P6710F
RAM: 4GB
CPU: ATHLON QUAD CORE 3.0GHZ
HD: 1TB
Please let me know if there is another way I can burn the recovery disks for win7. I have never burned a copy before.
P.S. I plan on moving the motherboard ( N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX ) into a:
CASE: CORSAIR OBSIDIAN 650D
GPU: SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X RADEON 6870 1GB
PSU: CORSAIR AX750
RAM: CORSAIR VENGEANCE 16GB
I am kind of curious...Once I put all that stuff together do you think I will have to reinstall the operating system?
I have never done a motherboard transplant before so I have no idea what to expect from HP. I am hoping its user friendly as I will certainly be voiding my warranty (which is good for another few months).
Thank you for any input on ANY of my concerns! You are wonderful people!

Hello SlightlyDrailed, I'm not sure why you cannot make your HP Recovery Restore disk set. You should try using the menu from the Start Orb, and try from this point.
I should make you aware that since you suggested you planned to move the HP motherboard to another case, add another video card and more Corsair memory, these HP Recovery Restore disk would not work if you ever needed them.
You would get an error message that these disk were not for the system.
I also checked the Corsair site for the memory that your HP motherboard would be compatible with, and could not locate any Corsair memory that is certified compatible for your HP motherboard, and especially the CORSAIR VENGEANCE 16GB.
Just some thoughts.

Actually I originally went to START menu and typed "Recovery" and the Recovery Manger icon popped up. I clicked that. I believe it is a shortcut to RecoveryMgr.exe though.
Why wouldnt they work if I needed them? I have kinda been lead to believe that they where "just as good" as having an actual OS disc.
I am hoping that after I install the new case, cpu, psu and ram that the computer will just awaken with tons of new super powers. I am worried that I might have to reinstall the operating system at some point. I would also like to eventually install the operating system onto an SSD.
Surely there is a way to assist me if I need to reinstall a fresh clean install of the OS right?
Can I order discs?

Hi Drailed,
You wanting to create the recovery disks? You want CDCreator.exe, not RecoveryMgr.exe.
Start-->All Programs-->Recovery Manager-->Recovery Media Creation.
Hope this helps.

Hello SlightlyDrailed, You might try lmann's post and see if you can create the HP Recovery Restore Disk set.
The reason these HP Recovery Restore Disks would not work is they are tied to the original HP system. You could change the case, and the power supply, but when you change the video card, and perhaps the memory modules, the HP Recovery Restore disk reads the BIOS, video card, memory, and maybe other devices and sees they are not the ones that the disk set were made from, so they will give the message that these disk are not for this system, and essentially, they are not. You would not have the system as it was when these disk were made.
If you left the system as it was when shipped, these HP Recovery Restore disk set would work as you suggest, and restore the HP system back as it was when shipped, but not after all the changes you suggest you want to make.
If you make all those component changes, you would still have the same HP computer you had because of the limitations of the HP BIOS, with the exception of the video card. There are no BIOS setting adjustments that can be made to increase the performance of the system as there are in retail motherboards. The better performing video card would be an exception, but not by much.
You could make a hard drive image of the system as it is now and may have a chance of restoring the image to a SSD. I have not done this so I can't say for sure. What I can say for sure, is that at some point you will need to reinstall the operating system for many different reasons. If you change the HP system more than just a power supply upgrade, these disk want restore the software.
You may be able to order the HP Recovery Restore Disk set for your system, but you would need the model number and serial number of your system, and HP would ship you the very HP Recovery Restore disk set that would only work for your system as it was when shipped from HP.
Since you mention Corsair memory, you would need to use a Memory Configurator to insure that any memory you order would be certified compatible with the HP motherboard. The HP memory is made specifically for this motherboard and not the standard DDR3 memory. The memory banks and timings are radically different, and managed by the HP BIOS. There are many horror stories from Members that order memory that will not work in their HP systems.
You may want to do some research on all these changes before you order your upgraded components to insure they are supported for the HP motherboard, and will operate to you expectations.
