I did not reinstall Vista and have completed the install of Windows 7 home, however when it asked me for my product key I used the original Vista and it rejected it. The upgrade was a promo from 2009 and when I first upgraded it there were issues and I had to contact Microsoft to resolve them. It appears I have 30 days to resolve this and would like some input on how to work around this. I do have the HP ugrade assistant disk and all the other disks, i.e. recovery(windows 7), etc.
Thanks for any assistance!

Your Upgrade disk should have a license key on the sleeve or somewhere.

This was an upgrade promo from 2009. So the HP/Microsoft disks do not have a product number.

I beleive the statement by CherylG was misunderstood. "A license key on the sleeve" is different from " product number"
If the install disk for Windows 7 was in a protective sleeve or case, the license key would be on that and is needed to activate the product. If that is not still availble, then it will be problematic.

When you open the plastic case, lay it flat. Remove the orange manual. The product key is on the facing card.
To say THANK YOU, press the white star on the left, to render a KUDO.
Please click Accept as Solution, just to the right of my reply if your problem is solved.
PS--You can render both Solution and KUDO
